Por primera vez se intenta hacer una gran liga, con varios equipos por países y con más equipos que nunca. Con más equipos hay más fases, tras varias fases previas, se hará la liga regular como siempre pero ahora serán 16 equipos, ocho por grupo, luego se enfrentaran los cuatro primeros de cada grupo en un playoff, los primeros playoff de la historia de la competición.
