In 2016 the last FIBA Cup was held as the main exponent of its club competitions. In this edition the final four was held in the French city of Chalon-Sur-Saône, where Fraport Skyliners was proclaimed champion after overcoming and finally winning the Italian Varese by (66-62)
The competition begins with 24 teams. Framed in six groups of four and three teams, the champion of each group will qualify for the final league
The competition starts with 23 teams, there were two qualifying rounds from which VARESE, ZADAR, ASVEL BASKET, MAES PILS and MACCABI were exempted
