In the summer of 1991, the EuroBasket is held in Rome, an event that would show us for the last time Yugoslavia as a unified country. The last competition in which Croats, Serbs, Montenegrins, Slovenes and Bosnians played under the same flag. The Balkans would win Gold after beating Italy 88-73
In the semi-finals Yugoslavia beat France 97-76 and Italy eliminated Spain 93-90. In the fight for the Bronze, Spain beat France by 101-83. The Spaniards could thus end a seven-year drought without winning a metal.
