In 1939, before the outbreak of World War II, the EuroBasket was held in Lithuania. An event for a country that loves basketball, and which took the opportunity to repeat the Gold. The silver went to Latvia, and the bronze to Poland
Because of the league system, there was no end in sight. It is striking that the probably decisive match of the competition was played on the first day between the two big favourites, Lithuania and Latvia. The hosts won (37-36).
